Why a prefab house

ŠVEMAWOOD builds timber frame homes in two construction variants. The 2BY4 variant is assembled directly on the investor's plot — KVH stud framing is erected on site and the wall envelope completed during construction. The DEKWOOD variant uses pre-manufactured timber panels: wall, ceiling and roof elements are built to millimetre precision in our workshop and assembled into a finished home on site.

Because panels are pre-manufactured in a controlled workshop environment, every element is produced to millimetre precision. This means shorter on-site build time, less weather dependency and greater quality control than traditional masonry.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to build a prefab house?add

The shell is typically complete in 5–10 working days. The full house including interiors is usually handed over within 6–9 months of starting.

Is a prefab house as strong as a masonry one?add

Yes — a modern timber frame is structurally rigid and resilient. Correctly built, it matches or exceeds the lifespan of masonry.

What is the energy consumption?add

Our homes meet low-energy or passive standards. Annual heating consumption is typically below 50 kWh/m².

Can the house be altered or extended later?add

Yes. Non-load-bearing partitions can be moved and extensions added without restrictions — easier than with masonry.

What is the difference between a prefab house and a log cabin?add

A prefab house has a KVH stud frame with insulation inside; a log cabin uses solid timber. Prefab is significantly more energy-efficient.
